I need to find the following things so if you have any information or links to share, I would greatly appreciate your help!
1. I would like to buy some pretty reusable grocery bags. I have looked on Amazon and Etsy but I can't find anything I like for a price that seems reasonable. I would like both bags for groceries and bags for things like produce and bulk items (nuts, grains, spices).
2. I am planning my son's Human Anatomy and Physiology course and I am looking for online resources, links to videos, suggestions for books in addition to a text (already have that picked out). He is interested in going into a medical field, not a full blown M.D. but perhaps radiology, ultrasound, physical therapy, or something like that. Any suggestions are welcome!
3. I am also thinking about looking for someone to trade Tapestry of Grace years with for next year. I have Year 1 and 2 (Redesign but not digital) that I would be interested in trading for Year 4 (Redesign print or digital*). I haven't posted on the TOG board yet but I will probably do so next week. I could also trade Harmony Fine Arts plans for Year 4 or at least work that into the deal. Please email me directly: harmonyfinearts@yahoo.com
* Edit 4/21/11: Apparently with TOG you can not transfer the digital edition. From their website:
"When you buy Tapestry of Grace DE,you are not buying a copy of the curriculum. You are buying software which grants you the permanent right to use (and print) copies of the curriculum for your family's personal use. LockLizard is controlled by a computer-specific license that you purchase."
So I will be using my TOG Year 4 Classic once again next year because I just can't see investing in another year plan for just one time through. It is a good plan but not my first choice for Mr. B. I will make it work. I appreciate the email from those willing to talk trading but it doesn't look like it is within TOG's rules.
That's it for now....thanks for your help.

a meaty living book!!:)
Thanks Erin,
That looks like a great one!
The first that comes to mind for reusable bags is conservingNow because they are great people :) Unfortunately they do not have produce bags... Perhaps ECOBAGS. I don't have experience with the second company.

sorry -forgot the links!
My favorite reusable shopping bags are the ones you can get at Publix or Earth Fare. They're $2.99 each and have really nice designs.
Blossom- Thanks for the links. Looks like Eco Bags has both. I appreciate the help.
Leslie- Both your suggestions are in a different geographic area. I need to check out our Trader Joes...bet they have some to choose from that are pretty. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hi Barb,
My favorite reuseable bags are from Kohls:) They have a strong sturdy bottom and fold without a hassle. They also snap making them easy to store and take with you.

Hi there!
I am a PT, and I love it!
One thing you may want to consider:
have him volunteer at a hospital or PT office along with his anatomy studies.
Here is a great link:
http://www.apta.org/ProspectiveStudents/
Also, I had an edge in PT school because I love exercise and muscles.
Have him start to memorize muscle attachments. A basic book we used in PT school was: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0683045768/sr=1-2/qid=1303355065/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1303355065&sr=1-2&seller=
It is basic enough for high schoolers to benefit. One word of caution: you may want to review it page by page. There may be a bit more female "skin" than you are comfortable with. (It really isn't bad, though).
Hope that helps... sorry so wordy!
Theresa,
Question for you...have you tried washing the bags from Kohl's? Mine end up so dirty and the ones I have fall apart in the washer. I may just go with the more expensive ones like the ones in your second link just so I can be sure to wash them.
Thanks for the tips...I shop at Kohl's and I haven't looked at their bags.
Kimberly,
I am passing the link on to my son to have him read more about a PT career. Thanks so much for the help.
As a former biology teacher I would say that Apologia has an extremely challenging Anatomy text -- equal to what I took in college.
Also Landry Academy (Landryacademy.com) offers online courses as well as summer camps in a variety of subjects. Mr Landry specializes in anatomy and even uses cadavers. Local hsers on the east coast rave about these course. My daughter is taking Exercise Physiology next year. Courses are web-based with a text book. He offers free seminars so you can get a feel for how the courses work. Not cheap - try to get in on the early discounts ending soon.
Hi Diane,
I have looked and looked at the Apologia text and I just think it is not a good fit for Mr. B. We are going with another college text that looks like it might engage him a little more. This will be sort of a transition to secular science for him as we prepare him to take possible college level courses.
Thanks for the input and I will keep it in mind if the text we chose doesn't work for him.
Hi Barb,
I don't have any Anatomy text resources for you, but I thought you might try out AnatomyArcade.com for some fun memorizing. They have a couple of games like Whack-a-Bone and Poke-a Muscle that we have played a bit. The names are kind of hokey, but the games themselves seem pretty well done. The games start off easy and move you to higher and higher levels.
It looks like they have added some games for the digestive system, brain and others.
You usually have to go through one ad before you begin. Give it a try and see what you think.
It is one of those things that I have in favorites so that if one of the kids is waiting on me for a couple of minutes, they can do this while they wait.

Sarah,
This is exactly the kind of thing that I was hoping to find when I asked in this entry. I know there are great resources out there for learning about anatomy and I love that it is progressive! Thanks so much!
Hi Barb,
You've got me on a hunt now. My 12-yo will be spending part of the year on Anatomy next year, so I figured I might as well look and see what I could find.
Here are two other sites I found today. One is a squidoo lens that someone made for Anatomy resources for kids. Some look to be appropriate for high school age, though.
http://www.squidoo.com/human-anatomy-kids
Another one I found looked like it had good videos. The games seemed a little young for your son.
http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/
At Academic Earth, there is a complete video course on Anatomy:
http://academicearth.org/courses/general-human-anatomy
Hippocampus.org also has a biology section. I haven't looked at it very closely yet.
This does remind me that I have a set of Teaching Co. VHS tapes that I picked up at a used book sale for about $5. I'll have to get them out and see how they look. Probably a little too much for my 12 yo now.
Now I need to make sure I save these links for myself!
Sarah
Do you have Whole Foods near you--they have very cool ones! And cheap! Recycled from plastic bottles.
Hopewell....
They are a little far but next time I am that way(about 30 miles)I will be sure to check them out!
Thanks for the tip.
