I think this would be especially good for younger ones just starting out in their nature journals. Check out pages 14-43 for some easy to follow steps in drawing things you might want to include in your journals.

In fact, if you are participating in this week's Outdoor Hour Challenge, you may wish to take a look at page 25 where it shows you how to draw a frog and a tadpole.
Enjoy!

Oh, this is so cool! Thank you so much. I have been looking for something like this.
Congratulations, Barb. You've won the Versatile Blogger Award! Go here for details: http://keenkidsathome.wordpress.com/2010/07/26/a-versatile-blogger/
Wonderful, thanks for sharing.
The frog study got me excited and I have put together a mini unit study for this week. Can't wait to share!
My boys especially are interested in frogs and we have owned a frog now for about a year (tree frog). So we've been able to observe one up close (though not in his habitat).

I do apologize if you are already buried under a pile of blog awards, but how can I not award you?

Thanks for your inspirational blog posts.
Wow, thanks for sharing. This is nice.
BTW, I wanted to thank you. The books arrived today. They were, just as you stated, in pristine condition and the children eagerly explored them as soon as the box was opened.
Very cool book, THANKS!!!
I always enjoy your posts, the drawing assignments and the resulting sketches. These pages on drawing are excellent and remind me of the "how to draw" book,(purchased from the supermarket!)that I learned from when young.
Here is another of this sort of helpful drawing books (my Dutch book review) for much younger kids:

'Your' book looks already difficult for young kids. I know lot of home school parents are afraid these books ruin free expression, but I can assure you that that isn't the case. These sort of step-by-step books assists kids and give them drawing confidence.
I love this resource - thank you!
Perfect timing! Thank you, Barb! :D
love the cattails, frogs and tadpoles. Thank you!
So very cool! I'm going to share this with my husband.
I'll have to go check out this link as well!
