Nice and important article! My husband is a musicologist, so our family is musically oriented. In our education room I have a music player accompanied with a very large box of Mozarts Works, Bach and other Baroque musicians. I have seen the effects of Baroque music on my daughter from her early age. I can not remember her age (4-6?) but she was struggling to make jig-saw puzzle. I tried to help her but it didn’t work. Then I put on a piano sonata of Mozart. Wosh...my daughter became calm, frustration dissolved and that puzzle was made effortlessly and in a very short time. I am very happy Laurance O’Donell mentioned Baroque often since we are Baroque lovers. The only problem with Baroque music in the education room is, that we sometimes end up dancing instead of making sums. No serious, that IS a problem. :-) So, no Baroque opera’s or cantatas, their enchantment and beauty is too distracting.
Trully fascinating! This provides much inspiration for discussions with my high schooler who listens to music while learning. My younger children love to listen to Mozart when they do creative writing. I agree, this article does stimulate further research!
