We have such a routine of listening to classical music at certain times and days of the week that it feels quite natural to flow right into the Summer 2010 Art and Music Plans and listen to some of Handel's music. The selections are familiar and we all seem to tap a toe or whistle along with the music. Handel's Water Music is uplifting on a summer's afternoon.
We are currently studying Van Gogh's Bedroom in Arles and my son made it the desktop background on our desk computer. We found this link: Classroom Resource Art Institute of Chicago: Bedroom at Arles. You may wish to include it in your own study of this painting from Vincent Van Gogh.

Email me if you complete any of the Van Gogh activities from the Summer 2010 plans and I will come over and look at your work.

I was just reading the e-book this morning, planning for our summer nature study and art/music appreciation. I am really looking forward to it!
Forgive my being nosy/dense but when do you listen to the music pieces. Do you play it while you're doing other things or just sit and listen?
Sebastian,
Both, we listen while we are working at the computer, while we are in the car, and while we are just doing things around the house.
We sometimes listen together and many times on our own. I had the boys load the music on their MP3 players so it gets listened to regularly.

I actually miss the good education/thinking time that we used to get driving around. The last several years we've lived places where there isn't much driving needed and no long driving.
I remember when we could get several books or lectures done on long drives in Europe.
Maybe some breakfast Hayden and Handel.
We are behind on our Art & Music study due to our vacation last week, just beginning the music this week and awaiting our DK Eyewitness book for Van Gogh, but I wanted to say that my child is ENORMOUSLY excited about our efforts with Handel & Hornpipe. It was splendid to read the short biography and to process this together...SO WONDERFUL.
We are looking forward to catching up on the Nature Study and Art as soon as all of our resources arrive.
Today...we enjoyed listening for the A B A pattern. But mostly I enjoyed how excited she was when listening to this amazing music.
We are really enjoying our Handel listening as well. I am so glad to hear that your family is really getting into the selections....you will never forget the patterns now your brain is aware. :)
