At last I am ready to launch the newly revised and revamped edition of what used to be Harmony Fine Arts Grade Six. The original reason for the revision was the need to replace out of print books in option two. I took this opportunity to try out a completely different way to offer the Harmony Fine Arts plans.
I decided a new title would be appropriate because it is so different than the first edition.
The new title:
Medieval and Renaissance Art and Music: Middle School Level.
Not only are the contents different but the format is in an ebook that can be downloaded from Lulu.com.
New features:
- All links are clickable and will save time by taking you directly to the artwork online when you are viewing featured works or you are looking up additional resources.
- Every painting is linked to the internet for your viewing convenience.
- Included with the plans in a separate appendix are art prints for each artist. These can be viewed on your computer screen or printed out for your art notebooks.
- The new plans eliminate the need to buy Dover Coloring Books because there are coloring pages in the plan's appendix for all but one of the artists featured.
- There are notebook pages for you to print for the artists and composers studied.
- The plans for Artistic Pursuits in option three now include a direct suggestion for linking the art element covered in the lesson with the featured artist in the picture study option.
- The expanded notes section gives specific instructions for using picture study with your children, ideas for artist and composer notebooks, and suggestions for handling nudity in artwork with your children.
- The option two plans now include a schedule for using Mark Kistler's Draw Squad book for an introduction to drawing. The lessons are also connected to the artist studied in picture study by suggesting drawing activities to go along with the artwork.
- Each composer now has an additional free online resource suggested for your child to listen to in addition to the suggested CD.
- You can work directly from you computer rather than have additional paper plans to file and store.
- 48 pages in length
- Artists: Giotto, Fra Angelico, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Bruegel, Durer
- Composers: Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Berlioz
You can view a sample of the new plans and order them at Lulu.com:

Currently my website is being updated with this new information so you will not be able to order from there quite yet.
There are no plans at this time to sell the Grades 5-8 bundle. I have yet to figure out how to make it work with three years listed on my website as paper plans and one year on Lulu.com as an ebook. Also, I know that several of you have just recently purchased the sixth grade plans and received them in the last few months. If you are interested in receiving the ebook version, I am trying to work out details for that exchange. Please email me if you are interested in getting more details on that process. I am also willing to exchange paper plans for the ebook if you purchased a bundle in the last few months as well. Please email me and we can work something out.
I am looking for two families to "test drive" the new ebook plans for free. I will consider your family if you have previously purchased plans from me and you have children currently in the middle school years. I would love to have someone who is willing to write a review for my website and for Lulu.com as well. Please email me if you are interested in the test drive.
I am going to slowly be revising several of the other years as I have time available in my schedule. There are no definite plans at this time so I will keep you posted about which years are coming up for revision and when to expect them to be released. Please remember I am a homeschooling mom and my time is limited during the school year so you can probably expect the next revision out early summer of 2009.
I am excited to offer the Medieval and Renaissance Art and Music plans as an ebook. I love all the new possibilities that it offers families in their study of great artists and composers. Please feel free to email me with any questions or comments about the new plans.
If you would like to know more about the Harmony Fine Arts plans in general, I invite you to listen to my short podcasts.

Barb, you are my hero! I decided to use grade one for all my children this year and start from the beginning; WE are so happy with your work. My husband, children, and I love the selections and are learning so much! The grade 6 format sounds great. It makes me want to order it to study on my own! ;-)
Krista,
Thanks for the comment and I am so glad to hear that your whole family is using the plan and enjoying it. Perfect!

This sounds wonderful!!
Barb,
The link to view the inside of the Medieval book is not working. Is there a way to see the contents?
Thanks!
Jen
