Thanks Mark Kistler for the Drawing Tools

What does a thirteen year old do when he is sick in bed? Read and draw.

If you have any doubt about the influence of Mark Kistler's books on a young artist, you need to just look at these drawings my son made last week when he was down with the flu.

How about this one?

We have been through Kistler's book Draw Squad several times and it has greatly increased our family's ability to see in things and then draw them. My son enjoys creating his own little worlds with his drawings and there is always plenty of humor.

If you want to know more about Mark Kistler's books, you can read my newly finished Squidoo Lens on teaching your children to draw and watercolor. I also included lots of samples of drawings from the lessons in the book.

Our oldest watched a couple of Mark Kistler videos over and over when she was seven or eight--I think they were a good influence on her because she still likes to draw. ("Shade, shade, shade, we love to shade.")

Barb,
I wanted to thank you for mentioning Draw Squad, probably in an earlier post somewhere...

Anyways, we were trying to use Drawing with Children and I just couldn't get jump-started on it. I love the ideology and the method but couldn't get it done..Draw Squad has been a wonderful change for us.

Open, read and draw. Camille is loving it, drawing all the time!
