Medieval and Renaissance Art and Music-Middle School Level

Ready for Medieval and Renaissance art? Harmony Fine Arts art and music appreciation program for grade six has it covered. Leonardo, Raphael, Botticelli, Michelangelo, and more are all planned out for you to view and discuss with your whole family. Do you want to listen to a little Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Mozart, and a few more composers during your school year? I have the plan all put down on paper for you. You will have the freedom and flexibility to use Harmony Fine Arts for your whole family and at a pace that suits your lifestyle.

Sample Plan from the Sixth Grade Plan

There are three options for you to pick and choose from for art appreciation in grade six. You can stick with one option all year or mix and match from all the options throughout your year as you wish.

Option one is an inexpensive, simple way to add art appreciation into your home. The plan provides internet links to paintings for your family to view each week. There are eight different artists to learn about this year.

Option two has lots of different things for you to look at, read, and then add to your notebook. If you choose this option, you will be using seven Dover Publications coloring books that have themes that tie into your history cycle. You will also read three books in the Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists series. After reading about and viewing the artwork of the artists, your child will write a short notebook entry with information they have learned. I provide internet links to short biographies in addition to the books you will read.

Option three plans out Artistic Pursuits grades 4-6 book two. You will complete the art appreciation and the art activities in the book within the 32 week plan provided by Harmony Fine Arts.

Music appreciation for grade six includes listening to eight different composers from this time period. The Harmony Fine Arts plan uses "The Story of..." series of CDs to hear a narrated biography and examples of the composer's work.
For a complete list of the CDs used with the music appreciation plan, you can view the materials page on Harmony Fine Arts.

I always like to remind readers that you can be very flexible with the plan that is shown in Harmony Fine Arts. You can combine all your children into one grade if you wish. You can pick which ever grade works with your history time period. You can stretch the year plans out over longer periods if you desire. If you are on a budget, use option one and you don't have to purchase any additional materials at all.

If you have any questions about the plan, please email me and I will be happy to answer as best I can.
